7 Make digital copies of vital documents
Scan or take a digital photo of any important documents, including
tickets, passport, driver’s license, credit cards, and all your prescriptions
(including vision). Then email them to yourself, save to a cloud storage
service (like Google Drive or iCloud), or save to your desktop or a flash
drive. If anything gets lost or stolen, you can easily retrieve this essential
information.

Keep your eyes on the prize
While you’re attending to logistics, keep your dream alive by learning
about the history, culture, and people of your host countries. Learn a bit of
the local language. Reach out to people who’ve been there. Watch a movie
that evokes a sense of place. This will keep you jazzed about the adventure
to come, and better informed once you arrive.
