Water
• New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji are healthy places, but it still pays to take care in what
you eat and drink.
• Tap water is safe to drink but always beware of natural stream water.
• In Fiji, tap water is typically safe to drink except during periods of continuous heavy
rainfall when the city’s plumbing system needs to be refreshed. If this occurs during your
trip, you should plan to drink bottled water during this time.
• Take a bottle of water with you on outdoor excursions to stay hydrated.
Food
• Food in New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji should not really cause any health problems—

• Be careful with food that has been cooked and left to go cold, which might happen in
some self-service places.
