Clothing Suggestions

               Functional Tips
As you will experience a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions, we suggest
several layers of clothing. Laundromats are not readily available outside of residential areas.
Some of the hotels you visit may have laundry services. However, it is recommended that you
pack as if you will be hand washing all your items. Look for fabrics that will dry out overnight.
You can buy clothing designed especially for travel, with features like wrinkle-resistant fabric
               or built-in sun protection.

                 • Footwear: You’ll be on your feet a lot during the trip, and walking over some rough and
slippery surfaces. We recommend you wear sturdy walking shoes or similar supportive

               Style Hints

Dress on our trip is functional and casual. Wearing shorts is acceptable in most situations for
both men and women. There is no strict dress code, but when visiting temples or shrines local
people would appreciate it if you dressed neatly and modestly.

               What to Bring

We have included suggestions from Trip Leaders and former travelers to help you pack. These

               Recommended Clothing
T Shirts: A mixture of short and long-sleeved shirts in a breathable fabric, like cotton or
cotton-blend. Polo shirts are more versatile than T-shirts.
