Traveler tip
Get a slice of Argentine life at the
            16 Mataderos market

Mataderos is a local handcra market on the outskirts of Buenos Aires that

also o ers traditional food. People will dance the tango in the street with
live music provided by local singers. It is very informal. The food is served in

small portions like appetizers, and includes flavors from di erent provinces
in our country. They serve empanadas and other dishes that may be eaten
with your hands. Sometimes, there are gauchos playing a well-known game
called El Juego de la Sortija (the Game of the Ring). Also, it is located far away
from any touristic neighborhood in the city. It’s only accessible by local bus
or taxi—there isn’t a nearby subway. It is open on Sundays from noon until
            around 5 p.m.
