               >SZR`Y (1980, Period Drama) A popular TV miniseries that was shot entirely in Japan, it
               follows the drama of an English navigator shipwrecked in feudal Japan.

               /P[L]_`]P^ (2008, Drama) An Academy Award winning Japanese drama follows the story of a
               failed cellist who takes a job as a mortician.


               Vietnam

               Apocalypse Now (1979, Drama) Set in the midst of the Vietnam War, this intense drama follows
               L ^[PNTLW Z[^ ^ZWOTP] ZY L OLYRP]Z`^ XT^^TZY  ?SP ʭWX T^ LN_`LWWd LY LOL[_L_TZY ZQ 5Z^P[S
              Conrad’s book, Heart of Darkness.

              2ZZO 8Z]YTYR ATP_YLX (1987, Comedy) While the irreverent humor of Armed Forces Radio
              Service host Adrian Cronauer (Williams) amuses the troops stuck in Vietnam, he clashes with
              the Army brass who try to censor his show.

              Indochine (1992, Foreign) When a well-to-do French plantation owner and her adopted
              ATP_YLXP^P OL`RS_P] MZ_S QLWW QZ] _SP ^LXP YLaLW ZʯNP]  _SPT] WTaP^ RP_ ^bP[_ `[ TY _SP
              burgeoning nationalist movement. Set in French Indochina of the 1930s; in French with
              subtitles.

              widely understood to be a comment on the Vietnam War. The darkly comedic tone of the
              movie was so popular that it was developed into a long-running TV series, M*A*S*H.

               The Quiet American (1958, Classic) A love triangle between a British journalist, a young
               ATP_YLXP^P bZXLY  LYO L @ >  ZʯNTLW  ML^PO ZY _SP YZaPW Md _SP ^LXP YLXP  ?SP
               remake starring Michael Caine and Brendan Fraser puts more emphasis on the intrigue and
               seedy side of Saigon in the 1950s, but is also quite good.
