to local artisans that specialize in woodwork, a Buddhist monk who will guide us through Zen meditation, and
a local family that will share their traditions with us.
Discover an Asian land both modern and ancient … where a colorful Shinto festival snakes past neon
lights and Tokyo skyscrapers … a modern bullet train speeds past a farmer tending his rice paddy … a
well-dressed businessman stops in a Buddhist temple to light incense. Plus, we recently added an extra
night in Tokyo so that you can experience more of Japan’s futuristic capital. Welcome to Japan
travel—O.A.T. style.

Tokyo’s Yanaka district.
Northern Vietnam: Hanoi & Halong Bay
7 NIGHTS PRE-TRIP
Feel the cosmopolitan rhythm of Hanoi, the modern capital anchored by a tree-ringed lake. We’ll explore the
winding streets of the Old Quarter, admire the classic Vietnamese architecture of the Temple of Literature,
and witness a traditional water puppet show. Then, we dive into rural life during a visit to verdant Mai Chau
where we’ll learn about the area’s distinct culture before experiencing the region by water, as we spend two
nights cruising the calm, emerald waters of Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Hiroshima
3 NIGHTS POST-TRIP
Built on an island chain in the Ota River Delta, Hiroshima will always be remembered for the events of August
6, 1945. But in the years since, the city has rebuilt, grown, and created the Peace Memorial Park.
