Brewers in Bariloche : During our time in Bariloche
on Day 5, we’ll visit a family-owned craft brewery.
Here, we’ll have a chance to learn about the
brewing process, discover how the area’s strong
German influence—especially as it relates to
beer culture—can be seen and felt, and sip beers
made on site.
Family in Patagonia : As dinner guests of a local family
in Patagonia on Day 6, we’ll have a chance to enter their home, enjoy traditional
Patagonian dishes like roasted lamb, and have an open dialogue about daily
life in this remote corner of the world. We can even ride the family’s horses to
experience an important part of Patagonian culture.
Mapuche Local : The Mapuche people are an indigenous group that live
predominantly in the southern regions of Argentina and Chile. We’ll have the
opportunity to hear from a Mapuche man on Day 6, to learn about his people’s
complicated relationship with the Argentinean and Chilean governments and
how they are working to keep their traditions alive.
Rilán Community : We’ll spend a day getting to know members of the Rilán
community on Chiloé Island during A Day in the Life on Day 10. We’ll visit the
home of a local artisan, then have a curanto, or a traditional meal that is cooked
in a hole in the ground, for lunch with a family that lives in the community.
On Day 6, we’ll ride horses through Patagonia with locals.
