Children : While in Quito
on Day 3, we’ll pay a
visit to the Sinamune
Disabled Children’s Orchestra, which is supported
by Grand Circle Foundation. We’ll have the privilege of watching
these talented dancers and musicians put on a moving musical
performance.
Amazonian resident : On Day 4, we’ll meet with an indigenous resident
of the Amazon to learn about the Controversial Topic of the extraction
of crude oil from the rain forest and how this highly lucrative industry is
effecting the environment and the indigenous groups that continue to
make their homes in the rain forest.
Kichwa villagers in the Amazon : During our A Day in the Life of an
indigenous Kichwa village on Day 6, we’ll journey deep within the
Amazon rainforest for a glimpse into a world that few Americans
get to see. Our discoveries include a visit to a school supported in
part by Grand Circle Foundation, a Home-Hosted Lunch with a
Kichwa family, and a meeting with two generations of an indigenous
family to discuss the Controversial Topic of the vanishing of Kichwa
traditions in the modern age.
