7     Make digital copies of vital documents.



                     Scan or take a digital photo of any important documents, including
                tickets, passport, driver’s license, credit cards, and all your prescriptions
                (including vision). Then email them to yourself, save to a cloud storage
                service (like Google Drive or iCloud), or save to your desktop or a flash
                drive. If anything gets lost or stolen, you can easily retrieve this essential
                information.

                     Keep your eyes on the prize.

                     While you’re attending to logistics, keep your dream alive by learning
                about the history, culture, and people of your host countries. Learn a bit of
                the local language. Reach out to people who’ve been there. Watch a movie
                that evokes a sense of place. This will keep you jazzed about the adventure
                to come, and better informed once you arrive.
